The Duniway Foundation raises much-needed dollars to fund teaching positions at Duniway and all Portland Public Schools.
The Duniway Foundation is composed solely of parent volunteers, who work throughout the year to raise much-needed dollars that allow our school to fund classroom teaching and assistant positions not funded by Portland Public Schools.
With the funds raised in the 2022-2023 school year, Principal Rafferty hired the equivalent of 6 part- time educational assistant positions (filled by 4 amazing EA's serving all grade levels), and a portion of an essential student support position. Your donations make a huge impact!
For the 2023-2024 school year, we are asking members of the Duniway community to participate in two key fundraising events:
(1) The Annual Fall Giving Campaign; and
(2) The Duniway Auction
The Duniway Foundation Board is assessing the role of our local school foundation to address the student equity gap in our district. We believe the best way to equitably fund schools is for the legislature to fully fund ALL Oregon schools, which it has failed to do for over twenty years. We plan to continue gathering information to determine our plan for this year and beyond, including meeting with district and school leaders to discuss and learn about options to reduce this gap, as well as advocating for full funding from the state legislature.
