The Duniway Foundation is composed solely of parent volunteers, who work throughout the year to raise much-needed dollars that allow our school to fund classroom teaching and assistant positions not funded by Portland Public Schools. We donate one-third of the funds we raise to The Fund for Portland Public Schools to benefit every Portland Public School student.
The Duniway Foundation Board is assessing the role of our local school foundation to address the student equity gap in our district. We believe the best way to equitably fund schools is for the legislature to fully fund ALL Oregon schools, which it has failed to do for over twenty years. We plan to continue gathering information to determine our plan for this year and beyond, including meeting with district and school leaders to discuss and learn about options to reduce this gap, as well as advocating for full funding from the state legislature. With the funds raised in the 2021-2022 school year, Principal Rafferty was able to hire the equivalent of one full-time teacher, six educational assistants, and a portion of an essential student support position. Thank you, Duniway Community!
